How To Wear Knits
It's finally starting to cool down in San Antonio. I've been waiting to pull out the boots and fun knit sweaters. Fall and Winter styles are pretty effortless if you just add the two. Here are my tips for wearing knits and sweaters:
Layering your outfit with knits whether it's a scarf, poncho, or sweater instantly adds interest to any outfit. However, you still need a good foundation. Keep tops and bottoms simple. Be mindful of prints. Most often they are too busy looking when combined with the pattern of a knit garnment.
Go oversized with sweaters. Let it hang off of you. A regular sized sweater can visually add weight to you (even if it doesn't exist). An oversized sweater will be forgiving. Plus, showing a little shoulder is sexy. Again, be mindful of what you have under.
Be cautious with thick scarves. Wrap the scarf around your neck twice. You'll have to play with it a little to make it lie flat. If you can't get it tamed then just ditch it. There is nothing worse than looking like your scarf is choking you.
In my opinion, ponchos are just a fashion accessory that doesn't really serve a purpose. I guess because it wouldn't keep you warm like a sweater or a scarf does. Don't let that discourage you from buying one. Find one that fits just right, not too big. Let it hang open, off to the sides of your shoulders.
As I mentioned in the beginning, knits look great with boots: riding, ankle and booties. Don't be afraid to throw an outfit together. You could hardly go wrong.
