Last week I featured a lovely PR professional by the name of Natalie Saldana. Not only is Natalie awesome but she also has a great team behind her. One of those on her team is Christina. I’ve followed Christina’s blog, Social Butterfly Gal, for as long as I have known her. I’ll admit that I don’t follow very many blogs but Christina’s is definitely one that I’d recommend. Christina has a knack for finding the hot spots around San Antonio and getting the best deals, which is vital for business owners.
Christina is a 24-year old social butterfly that has a passion for public relations and social media. By day, you'll find her working as a Digital PR Consultant at The Social Butterfly Gal and a Social Media Manger for Natalie Saldana PR. In addition, The Social Butterfly Gal is a lifestyle blog that targets women, young or young at heart, that crave content in fashion, dinning, and entertainment. Originally, she started SBG to document my PR adventures and later rebranded SBG as a lifestyle blog so many young women could gain insightful information and feel inspired.
A: I’ve heard many bloggers mention that they sometimes get writer’s block. Do you ever have writer’s block? If so, how do you get out of it?
C: When it comes to writer's block, I haven't had much of it. I've manage to stay ahead of the game by creating content calendar's for each month. I take a look at what trends are popular, what is going on in my life as well as those in my age demographic and writer as to what information they would like to read.
A: Your blog posts are compelling. What is the best feedback you have ever gotten from a viewer or client?
C: The best feedback I've gotten concerning blog posts is to always be authentic. You want to be sure your readers get to know the real you and for them to feel like they can relate to you. I've also been told to be consistent when it comes to your blog. Updating consistently helps when it comes to building a following.
A: Name something your viewers would be surprised to know.
C: Something my readers would be surprised to know is I almost gave up on blogging. SBG is my third blog and the most consistent and successful one of them all. SBG inspired me to get out of my comfort zone to pursue my entrepreneurial career. However, a year ago, I struggled to maintain a blog and was ready to throw in the towel. Just when I was about to stop, The Social Butterfly Gal was born!
A: If you could only recommend one social media platform which one would it be and why?
C: If I could recommend one social media platform, I would recommend Twitter. Ask any millennial where they get their news and information from and they would say Twitter. I love Twitter because it is so fast paced and filled with information. I've gained knowledge by following important influencers and also am able to keep up with anything that is going on in today's society.
A: Why is having an online presence important?
C: I live and breathe social media. It is my job and duty as a social media manager to use it on a 24/7 basis, especially for my clients. Having an online presence is SO important. Whether you are a small business owner trying to connect with your local customers or an online business trying to connect with an audience world-wide. Staying relevant is KEY. You want your audience to know they are important by establishing a personal connection, in person or online. If you don't have a social media presence, you are missing out BIG TIME.
A: Give one piece of advice to women trying to reach their personal or professional goals.
C: One piece of advice I would give other women concerning their goals, is to remember YOU have the power to create opportunities. Executive Producer Shondra Rhimes once said, "Don't be a dreamer, be a doer." Don't give up, find another way to make and create opportunities. Always have faith and stay positive because anything is possible.
